In a statement, TRAI said as per the Standards of Quality of Service Regulations 2012, “The duration of advertisements in the TV channels is to be limited to 12 minutes per clock hour.”

Any shortfall of advertisement duration in any clock hour cannot be carried over, the telecom regulator said.

TRAI has also specified in its statement that the minimum time gap between any two consecutive advertisement breaks should not be less than 15 minutes while in case of movies, this time gap should be a minimum of 30 minutes.

The conditions shall not apply in case of live broadcast of a sporting event, it said.

“The advertisements during live broadcast of a sporting event should be only during the breaks in the sporting action,” the TRAI statement said.

To make the viewer’s TV watching experience better TRAI has also specified that advertisements should be only full screen.

“Part-screen and drop-down advertisements would not be permitted,” the statement said.

To remove the possibility of an advertiser trying to use a higher sound level to grab attention, TRAI has incorporated another prohibitory regulation.

“The audio level of the advertisements carried in TV channels not to be higher than the audio level of the programmes being broadcast in the channel,” the statement said.

The students and parents who were upset with government’s decision protested before the Board of Intermediate Education office. “Why did the government advance the supplementary exam date, if it is not willing to consider the re-exam marks in Eamcet,” questioned the furious students and parents.

Few days back, the students and the parents staged protests and forced the government to advance the supplementary exam date from May 24 to 16. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief expecting that the physics re-exam marks would be considered in Eamcet. But, the recent decision of government left them in a state of shock.

Till 2011, the government used to count the advance supplementary marks in Eamcet. But in April this year, a GO was issued by the government saying that these supplementary students would not be considered for Eamcet as just a few hundreds appear for it. However, a record number of 1.8 lakh students failed in physics exam this year. Now, the re-exam marks will be only considered for competitive examinations like IIT-JEE, BITS and AIEEE. Around 4.8 lakh students will be appearing for the advance supplementary physics exam, which also include 1.8 lakh who failed.

According to information, Bhanu has admitted to have collected Rs. 7 crores from Satyam Computers founder Ramalinga Raju’s son Teja Raju as a part of a deal for Rs. 20 cr., for securing bail to him.
Bhanu has even stated that he has close relations with heroines of Komaram Puli and Khaleja movies, which were produced with his money.
Also producers like singanamala ramesh and c.kalyan are his benamis.
Bhanu also confessed to police that he was close to many heroines like priyamani and had regular parties with them.

According to the admission of Bhanu, he has come in contact with Teja Raju in October 2010 and promised to secure bail to Ramalinga Raju who was then in jail, through his boss Maddelacheruvu Suri, for a payment of Rs. 20 cr. Teja Raju has agreed to the deal and paid an advance of Rs. 7 crore. As Bhanu or Suri have not secured bail for his father, Teja Raju has mounted pressure on Bhanu to refund the money, Bhanu reportedly told the CID that he had returned Rs, 2 cr. and pocketed Rs. 5 cr. of the advance.

Reports say that CID police might interrogate Teja Raju to check facts about this admission of Bhanu.

Referring to the demand from members that the Home Minister announce when the government is going to form Telangana, Mr Chidambaram said, “No Home Minister can make such statements…. Circumstances are well-known. Virtually every party is split on this issue.”

He said two days before his much-talked about December 9, 2009 statement in Parliament, an all-party meeting had been held on Telangana. The Business Advisory Committee of the Lok Sabha had also discussed the issue on the same day.

“I made the statement on December 9, 2009 (on Telangana formation) in Parliament. But the situation changed dramatically within 24 hours,” Mr Chidambaram said, adding that the parties which had a stake in the matter, including Congress, changed their stand.

He further maintained that in the wake of these dramatic developments, he made a “revised statement” on December 23, 2009.

The Home Minister said the Sri Krishna Committee report recommendations will be considered in deciding the road map for a separate state. He insisted that only when the eight parties, which have a major stake in formation of Telangana, take a view some progress can be made.

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) member Namo Nageshwar Rao and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Asaduddin Owaisi disrupted Mr Chidambaram’s speech a couple of times and insisted that the government look into their demands. Mr Rao asked the Hom e Minister to clarify the government stand on Telangana and clear the air about when it will form a view. Mr Chidambaram tried to pacify these members and assured them that the Congress will take a view soon.

Taking dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) members who also tried to intervene, he said their party hardly had a stake in Telangana but the eight parties which are major stakeholders and it is important that they reach a consensus.

“I can’t blame them if they take more time. Their stake is greater,” he said.

Mr Chidambaram also pointed out that senior BJP leader L K Advani had written a letter on April 1, 2004 stating that Telangana should not be formed.

“But you have a right to change your view,” he told the BJP members.

There has been repeated disruption in the Lok Sabha over the Telangana issue in this session. Last week eight Congress MPs from Telangana were suspended from Lok Sabha for four days for repeatedly disrupting proceedings on April 24. Members of the Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) have also been protesting in Parliament, demanding a final stand on the issue.

On coming to know of it, Nalgonda SP Navin Gulati has alerted his bosses in Hyderabad who are likely to take up the matter with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. In the meantime, Obama’s Nalgonda mobile number has been disconnected by the cops.

The cops aver that the unbridled competition among the various service providers in adding numbers is the reason for such goof-ups. To increase cell connections, the mobile network service providers have resorted to hiring third party sales personnel who are selling SIM cards on the roads in towns and cities across India and providing the connections at a cheaper rate without verifying the genuineness of the documents submitted as identity and residence proofs.

For example, after submitting the photo of Obama to the third party provider, Prasad had given a photocopy of his driving licence as proof of identity. However, Prasad’s photo on the driving licence is completely blurred. And cops suspect that the documents submitted by Prasad at the Regional Transport Authority’s office at Nalgonda to procure his driving licence too could be fake.

To prevent such ludicrous irregularities from occurring in the future, the cops have suggested that TRAI should immediately ban the telecom service providers from activating the mobile connections through third party mechanism.

The AP police have also recommended introduction of biometric system to capture the identity of the customer. It has also been suggested that the customer who wants to become a subscriber of a network provider should be physically present before the fixed centre.

Launching the Jharkhand Chapter of ‘What Can I Give Mission’, the missile man advised the children to make their homes corruption-free by preventing members of their family from indulging in graft.

This will be a big boost to India’s attempts to unearth black money stashed away by its citizens in secretive Swiss banks. The finance ministry said it will approach the Swiss government to seek information under the ‘liberal interpretation of the identity requirements for providing information‘ agreed to in the reworked Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) signed between the two countries.

“The move is in the right direction as it removes one key hurdle, information exchange, with Switzerland. It will improve exchange of information between the tax authorities of both countries,” says G C Srivastva, former director general, international taxation.

“The conditions will enable India to get information even if we have only limited details about the person with bank accounts in Switzerland,” the finance ministry said in a release on Monday, disclosing the details of the agreement signed on April 20.

“This agreement is beneficial to India because it gives liberal interpretation to the identity requirements for exchange of information which India will be seeking from Switzerland and is in line with international standards,” the release said. The new arrangement will kick in retrospectively from April 1, 2011.

The government has been under immense pressure from the opposition, civil society and the judiciary to demonstrate that it is serious about its intent to unearth black money parked in foreign accounts.

The India-Switzerland DTAA had come under fire in India because earlier versions did not make it easy for sleuths to get information on tax offenders and account holders in Swiss banks.

Under the rules, India had to provide details of the person being investigated and also the name of the foreign holder who can provide this information as part of the identity requirement without which Swiss authorities would not share information.

Experts say the new treaty would make information exchange easier and strengthen Indian tax authorities.

“As a result of this agreement, India even without establishing identity to the last detail, will be able to source details from Switzerland and Switzerland will be obliged to provide them,” says N C Hegde, partner, Deloitte, Haskins & Sells.

On August 30, 2010, India sealed a revised treaty with Switzerland widening its scope for active information exchange. The revised treaty makes it much easier to exchange information between India and Switzerland.

New Delhi can now seek information even if it can provide some identification of the person other than name and address and is able to indicate to the extent possible the person who can provide this information.

Indian tax authorities have already begun a crackdown on black money parked abroad after they received information on bank accounts in HSBC, Switzerland, through France.
