Andhra Pradesh state government has decided to employ Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) on striking junior doctors.
This strike has been going on for almost a month now but nothing was settled between government and medicos.
Now, G.O number 295 was released today and according to that, medicos cannot strike for next 6 months.
Eventhough junior doctors are not regular government employees, this decision was taken because people are suffering from lack of medical care in many hospitals due to this strike.
Government is also planning to ban students from writing P.G exams because they actively participated in this strike and their attendance was below 75%.
Junior Doctors say that they’re not regularly employed by state government and if govt assures them of employement after this training, they will consider calling off the strike.
After ‘Sakala Janula Samme’, government has brought about 20 different sections of its employees under Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA) and now by including JUDAs, it has made clear that it is not ready to face further losses to the state treasury.
